Whether you’re a night owl or you’re just looking to experience the city after dark, there are endless things for you to do in Bogotá at night. From bustling salsa clubs and elegant restaurants to ambient neighborhoods and buzzing cocktail bars, Bogotá’s nightlife offers a spectrum of experiences that cater to all tastes.

So, don’t let the setting sun mark the end of your day in Bogotá. Because after dark Bogotá really comes alive!

Bogotá has much to offer you at night that can make your travel experience even more unforgettable. Now, let’s delve into the top 10 things to do in Bogotá at night, as recommended by the locals and foreigners like me who call this city home.

Top 10 Nightlife Activities In Bogotá Colombia

Before I get into the top 10 nightlife activities in Bogotá, I feel I should highlight the top 3 activities that I believe everyone spending at least one night in Bogotá should try. These top 3 activities will be the ones that you will be telling all your friends about when you get home. And they’re the nightlife activities that will give you stunning Instagram worthy photo opportunities.

  1. Experience sunset at Monserrate
  2. Party in Chapinero
  3. Spend a night at Andrés Carne de Res in Chía!

The first is to experience a sunset from Monserrate. This is hands down the best thing you can do at sunset in Bogotá. The view during the day from Monserrate is stunning. But it’s only when the sun begins to set and the city lights up that you really get to see just how big Bogotá really is.

Sitting at number two on my personal list of things to do in Bogotá at night is a visit to the restaurants and clubs in Chapinero. Zona Rosa (also called Zona T) has some amazing restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Trust me when I say that the local Bogotános really know how to party.

In third spot is Andrés Carne de Res in Chía. There’s a few in Andrés Carne de Res in Bogotá, but Chía is the original. Imagine a salsa club, barbecue restaurant and Cirque du Soleil all rolled up into one. Got the image in your mind? Yeah, that’s what Andrés Carne de Res in Chía is like. It’s one place not to miss while you’re in Bogotá.

Watch Sunset over Bogotá from Monserrate: Sightseeing After Dark

Why limit sightseeing to daylight hours? One of the best things to do in Bogotá at night is to explore the city’s touristic sites after the crowds have dispersed. Watch the sunset from iconic Monserrate as the city comes alive after dark.

Once dusk falls, take a leisurely stroll through La Candelaria or visit attractions like Bolivar Square. End your evening at La Puerta Falsa, the city’s oldest restaurant and snack bar, for a taste of Bogotá’s culinary heritage.

Exploring Nightlife In Bogotá’s Neighborhoods

La Zona Rosa is Bogotá’s epicenter of nightlife. This neighborhood is teeming with bars, clubs and disco halls, offering endless entertainment options. Chapinero is also home to the largest LGBTQI+ nightclub in Latin America.

You can easily spend an entire night hopping from one venue to another, with a few late-night snacks in between. Just a short distance away, the Parque 93 area boasts upscale restaurants, sleek bars and a craft beer scene that also promise an exhilarating night out in Bogotá.

Venturing Out of the City: Andres Carne de Res

If you’re up for a little adventure, take a 45-minute ride outside Bogotá to the small town of Chía where you’ll find Andrés Carne de Res. This iconic establishment is more than just a restaurant or a bar – it’s an unforgettable experience that’s worth the journey.

Known for its eclectic atmosphere and mouthwatering cuisine, Andrés Carne de Res promises a night of fun, food and fantastic memories. Try some of everything from the menu, have way too much aguardiente and dance the night away!

Embracing the Craft Beer Culture

Coming in at number four on this list, is Bogotá’s craft beer. Bogotá’s craft beer scene is more vibrant than ever, thanks to a burgeoning community of independent breweries that have mastered the art of brewing.

The city’s love for beer is so profound that it has its own unofficial craft beer zone, known as eje cervecero. This hidden gem which is just a little off the conventional tourist trail, is a paradise for beer aficionados.

Among the top breweries to visit are Slow Beer, where each brew is named after a Colombian region, and Bárbaros Brewing Co, a trendy hub where you can enjoy a pint while immersing yourself in Spanish punk music.

Dining at Local Restaurants

Many Colombians consider lunch their main meal, which means dinner service in Bogotá typically starts late. This provides an excellent opportunity to incorporate a leisurely sit-down meal into your night out.

One of the top culinary destinations is Tapas Macarena, the first and arguably the best tapas bar in Macarena. Here, you can sample a variety of Iberian dishes and fusion food, from grilled banana with handmade indigenous Amazon sauce to tangy vegetarian ceviche inspired by the wild Amazon jungle.

Or alternatively, head over to Zona G, the gourmet zone. Or to Bombay Rooftop located a few blocks from Parque de la 93 for some Indian and Latin American fusion with a funky vibe.

Networking during Gringo Tuesdays

Surprisingly, Tuesday is one of the most exciting days for nightlife in Bogotá. This is all thanks to Gringo Tuesdays, a weekly language exchange event that morphs into a massive party as the night progresses.

Gringo Tuesdays are complete with DJs, dance floors, food and even board games. But this event is not just fun, it’s also a great way to network with other travelers and gather more tips for your trip.

The original ‘Gringo Tuesdays‘ are held at Vintrash Bar in Zona Rosa. Yet the Tuesday tradition has unofficially spread across the city. Personally, I like spending my Gringo Tuesdays in El Irish pub in La Candelaria with chicken wings (alitas) and a pint of local Colombian IPA (Indian Pale Ale).

Enjoying Live Music at 4.40 Music Hall

Despite its name, 4.40 Music Hall is not a concert hall but a lively urban nightclub that hosts an array of live bands and DJs for after-hours events. Located in Bogotá’s swanky nightlife district, this club offers a premium party experience complete with an outdoor terrace and rooftop bar.

Whether you’re in the mood for dancing or just want to chill with a drink, 4.40 Music Hall is a must-visit spot for nightlife in Bogotá!

Note: All the other city guides recommend the venue called Armando Records for live music. And it closed down almost 6 years ago. So if the other nightlife guides are telling you to go to Armando Records, then they haven’t been to Bogotá this decade!

Discovering the Cultural Scene at Teatro la Candelaria

La Candelaria, the historical heart of Bogotá, is not just a daytime attraction. One of the best night time activities in Bogotá is a visit to Teatro de La Candelaria, a petite theater and cultural institution adored by locals

Teatro de La Candelaria has hosted some of the city’s most significant plays. Making it an essential stop for those interested in immersing themselves in Bogotá’s arts and culture scene.

Experiencing Colombian Culture at Galeria Café Libro

If you’re looking to combine culture and nightlife, Galeria Café Libro is the place to be. This popular venue allows you to experience traditional Colombian salsa and rumba dancing while savoring local cuisine. The lively music and vibrant atmosphere make for an unforgettable night out in Bogotá.

Indulging in the Cocktail Culture

Bogotá has recently emerged as the Colombian capital of innovative drinks. Quirky cocktail bars have sprung up across the city, offering unique concoctions you won’t find anywhere else in the world.

Check out places like Black Bear, a restaurant and cocktail lounge renowned for its Colombian twist on classic drinks. And also Huerta Coctelería Artesanal, an artisanal cocktail bar featuring fresh herbs and botanicals from its own garden.
