Delve into the heart of the Colombian capital, Bogotá, and uncover a gem that has been captivating guests with its unique blend of comfort, location and hospitality for decades – the Hotel Tequendama Bogotá.

What Awaits You At The Hotel Tequendama Bogota?

Located in the colorful Santa Fe neighborhood, the Hotel Tequendama Bogotá stands tall and it promises an unforgettable stay. This hotel’s charm, lies not just in its five star service and huge buffet breakfasts, but also in its perfect location. The Hotel Tequendama is just a short stroll away from the city’s historic district, La Candelaria.

Be it the tantalizing tastes of the fantastic buffet breakfast on offer at the hotel, or the convenience of being connected to the convention center, this hotel has it all. As Bogota’s oldest five star hotel, the Hotel Tequendama ticks all the right boxes for most budget and midrange travelers.

Travel Tip: The walk into La Candelaria is safe during the day. But at night, don’t walk along Carrera 7 without a large group. And don’t walk along Carrera 7 after about 9:30pm.

Inviting Rooms That Exude Comfort

Guests are welcomed with elegantly designed rooms, that combine modern aesthetics with a hint of Colombian tradition. Each of these rooms are equipped with 24-hour room service and premium bedding, ensuring a relaxing stay.

The hotel also provides laptop-friendly workspaces that are ideal for business travelers and digital nomads. Bathrooms are well-appointed with bathrobes, complimentary toiletries and hairdryers. Adding an extra layer of comfort.

Yet, having stayed in 3 different rooms during the month I spent at the Hotel Tequendama, I found that all the rooms that I stayed were in need of a minor refresh or repair. Patchy hot water, buzzing electrical systems or lights with cut cables, did not meet the expectations I had prior to visiting Bogotá’s oldest 5 star hotel. But then again, I’m very picky when it comes to hotel rooms in Bogotá.

Thankfully, the staff were the saving grace of this hotel. The staff members at the Hotel Tequendama are some of the best I’ve come across in my many years living in South America. And they quickly rectified any faults that I found in my hotel rooms.

It’s the staff (plus the breakfast, per night price and location) that drives me to recommend The Hotel Tequendama to anyone visiting Bogotá for the first time. I believe the Hotel Tequendama is the place you should stay on your first trip to Bogotá!

Dining At The Hotel Tequendama Bogota

Dining at the Hotel Tequendama Bogota is a culinary adventure. With two in-house restaurants, guests can savor Italian cuisine and more. Be it a quick snack or a lavish dinner, the hotel’s culinary offerings will satiate your palate.

Better yet, is the Hotel Teqendama’s location. Mezzo Giorno is a spectacular Italian restaurant directly opposite the hotel, situated inside an old rectory of the Parroquia San Diego. And just behind the Hotel Tequendama you will find the De Fierro steakhouse, which has won many awards and accolades for its meats. De Fierro is one of my favorite spots in Bogotá.

No more than a couple of hundred meters walk away from the Hotel Tequendama, next to the Museo Nacional, you will be presented with an array of quality restaurants. On Transversal 6 you will find Restaurant Republik, Anna & Otto, Gostinos and La Tapería. All are excellent and worth more than one visit.

An Array Of Amenities

Guests can indulge in a variety of amenities at the hotel. From a refreshing dip in the indoor pool to a shopping spree on site, there’s something for everyone.

The hotel also offers a hair salon, laundry facilities and free in-room WiFi. Though the wifi never worked for me in the month that I spent staying at the Hotel Tequendama. So, I just got a cheap SIM card with 240GB of data from the Claro store next door to the hotel (less than $30 USD).

A roundtrip airport shuttle service is provided for free, ensuring a hassle-free commute for guests staying at Hotel Tequendama. But be sure to contact the hotel for the shuttles timetable in advance. It only runs once every 2 hours.

If you land at El Dorado at a time when the shuttle isn’t running, alternate airport transfers are cheap and convenient to book. And I recommend the Civitatis airport transfers.

The Hotel Tequendama Bogotá Experience

The experience at Hotel Tequendama Bogotá is not just about comfortable stays and huge buffet breakfasts. It’s also about the impeccable service that the hotel staff offer. For me, the service was top notch!

Outstanding Customer Service

Guests have consistently praised the hotel for its exceptional customer service. The staff’s professionalism and politeness have been lauded, making guests feel welcomed from the moment they step into the hotel.

The swift response to any issues, and the willingness to go the extra mile to ensure guest satisfaction, truly sets Hotel Tequendama apart. And it was the exceptional customer service from the staff that made my stay enjoyable. The staff and their outstanding five star service were, for me, the best feature of the Hotel Tequendama in Bogotá.

A Prime Location In Santa Fe Bogotá

Nestled in the Santa Fe neighborhood (Centro Internacional), the hotel enjoys a prime location. It’s within easy walking distance of all the major attractions like Torre Colpatria, the Gold Museum, Emerald Museum and the Plaza de Bolivar.

The hotel’s location is perfect for sightseeing, with various points of interest such as the Monserrate cable car just a short stroll away. Even though the Hotel is only a 5 minute walk from the Santa Fe Tolerance Zone, the area has a huge police presence day and night, making it very safe to walk around.

Guest Reviews: A Testament To Quality

The Hotel Tequendama Bogotá has received numerous positive reviews from guests. The buffet breakfast and the friendly staff have been particularly appreciated.

The hotel’s cleanliness, amenities and the property’s condition are slightly weaker spots for the hotel. If the Hotel Tequendama cleaned or replaced the carpets in the halls, better maintained the electrical systems in the rooms and fixed the dysfunctional wifi, it would be the perfect hotel in Bogotá.

Yet, the price for a room per night in the Hotel Tequendama Bogotá is considerably cheaper, when compared to other hotels in Bogotá. And the location is better and the staff are friendlier. So, it’s a tradeoff when choosing this Hotel.

Personally, even with the negatives mentioned above, I would still choose the Hotel Tequendama over a lot of the other hotels in Bogotá.

My Final Thoughts On The Hotel Tequendama in Bogotá

Hotel Tequendama Bogotá, with its perfect blend of location and five star service, offers an ideal base for exploring the vibrant city of Bogotá. Whether it’s the great buffet breakfast or the perfect location, this hotel ensures a memorable stay for its guests.

So, pack your bags and embark on a Colombian escapade that promises to be as relaxing as it is exciting!

Safe Travels!
