Theoretically the Uber mobile application would work in Cuba with a VPN. But there are no Uber drivers in Cuba. Cuba has its own unique ride sharing mobile applications.

Here’s what you need to know about Uber in Cuba. For everything else you should see the Cuba FAQ page.

Cuban Ride Sharing Applications Like Uber?

The first Cuban ride sharing application was called Sube. Sube no longer works and it was replaced by Bajanda (pronounced ‘bah-han-dah’). But Bajanda’s owner fled Cuba and Bajanda no longer works.

The replacement for Bajanda is called La Nave. La Nave is the current ride sharing mobile application that works in Cuba. And you should download La Nave and use it in Cuba.

La Nave is one of the four most important apps we recommend you have and use in Cuba.

For other mobile apps or websites and whether or not they work in Cuba, there’s also our definitive guide to using mobile apps in Cuba.

Can I Use La Nave To And From The Airport?

La Nave works just like Uber. I personally use it to get to and from the airport in Cuba. However you will need a local Cuban mobile SIM card to order a La Nave and Cuban pesos (CUP) to pay the driver.

For everything you need to know about La Nave you can see my article here.

Where Can I Get More Information About Cuba?

I’ve made a Cuba Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page available on this website. And I would strongly advise you to read it before travelling to Cuba.

My Cuba FAQ page will save you a lot of time and a significant amount of money on your trip to Cuba. Cuba is not the sort of destination in which you can just arrive unprepared.
